last year, our family started a tradition of going to our local pumpkin patch and choosing our halloween pumpkins. we go to the country mercantile, this huge produce stand/gourmet food shop/pumpkin patch/corn maze just outside of town. there is a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and lots of
expensive fun carnival rides.
this year, the boys had lots of firsts. they rode their first roller coaster. harry leaned over to me during the ride and said, “mommy, this weally scary, but i having lots of fun!” they rode horses for the first time and they were natural little cowboys. harry’s horse was “tater” and jack’s was “bo.” then, they “flew” on the airplane ride. twice. but, i think their favorite part was climbing to the top of the giant hay mountain, which they love, but it scares the crap out of me. jack was pretending to shoot spiderman webs off the top.
we also actually got pumpkins. this year we instituted the “you may only pick a pumpkin that you can carry” rule. this worked out great as chris and i usually have to carry huge pumpkins back to the car. the fun adventure set us waaayyy behind schedule for lunch and nap time. harry was really cranky for our traditional “pumpkins in the car” picture. we stopped by one of our favorite eating spots, ice harbor pub, for some lunch before heading back to the house for naps all around.
we all had a wonderful time and love having our halloween pumpkins on the porch. this is one of our favorite family traditions.
